Six local governments have joined forces as the Wimmera Mallee Sustainability Alliance (WMSA) to improve sustainability in the Wimmera Mallee. These local governments are: Ararat Rural City, Buloke Shire Council, Hindmarsh Shire Council, Horsham Rural City Northern Grampians Shire Council and Yarriambiack Shire Council
The Alliance also includes a number of local and state government authorities and educational institutions, which are: Desert Fringe RWMG Grampians RWMG Wimmera Development Association Longerenong College University of Ballarat Wimmera CMA GWMWater
WMSA members are cooperating to address sustainability issues including: Improving energy efficiency; Minimising water use; Limiting waste production, and; Identifying areas of risk.
The Alliance is primarily working towards more sustainable practices within their respective business. However, the broader community can reap the benefits of action so WMSA’s focus is widening. Please refer to the Projects page for information on the Alliance's activities.
